Ricardo is a founding partner at the law firm BARREIRO. OLIVA. DE LUCA. JACA. NICASTRO in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where he leads the Construction & Infrastructure and Energy & Natural Resources teams. He has more than 20 years of experience working in corporate law with a focus on the sectors infrastructure, construction, energy, and natural resources.
Ricardo frequently advises both local and international clients in project planning and bidding, contract drafting, and negotiation, public private partnerships, financing through real estate funds and private capital, exploration- and mining projects, generation, production and commercialization of energy, renewable energy projects, etc. Ricardo has also vast experience in advising clients in both preventing and solving conflicts in negotiations, litigation, and arbitration.
Ricardo has been recognized as leader in his areas by Who’s Who Legal and is – as the only lawyer in Argentina – part of the Global Elite in Construction Law for the year 2019 and 2020. He is a fellow of the International Academy of Construction Lawyers. He is president and founding member of the Argentine Society of Construction Law, Co-Chair of the International Construction Projects Committee of the International Bar Association, member of the steering committee of the Society of Construction Law International, and council member of the Section of Energy, Environment, Resources and Infrastructure Law of the International Bar Association. He was part of the list of presidents of Dispute Boards for the dispute resolution program implemented for the Rio de Janeiro 2016 Olympic Games.
